GP Partners

Due to outside commitments such as the requirement to undertake continuous professional development, involvement in NHS project meetings and citations to attend court hearings, etc, doctors may be absent from the practice, on occasion. Doctors in Training

Our practice is approved to train fully qualified doctors who wish to specialise in general practice. Our GP registrar will have had 2-4 years of experience as a qualified hospital doctor working in various specialities. They consult patients on their own, under the mentorship of our trainer, Dr Thomson and Dr Hornsby. Occasionally we ask permission to video a consultation. You will always be asked in advance and are given the option not to take part and this will not affect your care in any way. No recording will be taken without your consent and the camera will be switched off on request. These videos are used only for educational purposes with the doctor doing the consultation and are destroyed after use. Dr Jindal is currently the GP registrar at the practice.

Emergency Care Team (Duty Team)

The Emergency Care team, or Duty Team, is made up of Emergency Care Practitioners and Advanced Nurse Practitioners. This team provides our same day consultations for a range of acute illnesses, such as sore throats, chest infections, urine infections and back or abdominal pain. They can issue prescriptions and always have at least one duty Doctor working alongside them every session. Please give the receptionist as much detail as possible when you call so we can provide the duty team with everything they need to know.

Mental Health & Wellbeing

Brooke Hulsizer, a Social Worker, Sheila Morris, a Mental Health Nurse and Pat McKelvey, an Occupational Therapist, work in the Health Centre as Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners. They offer short term mental health support and guidance, connecting you into other support and services as needed. They will support you with things that you are struggling with that are impacting on your health, such as stress, low mood, bereavement, family issues, loneliness, debt, anxiety, identity issues, addictions, trauma and chronic health conditions. Access is open so you do not need to be referred by a GP but you do need to be over 18 years of age. Just let any member of staff know that you would like to make an appointment and Brooke or Pat will get in touch with you to arrange a time. They offer face to face, video or telephone call appointments which usually last around 45 minutes. During your appointment the practitioner will listen to your needs and work with you to identify things that will help you improve your mental health and emotional wellbeing. This may include providing self-help guidance and support, finding people and places that might help, teaching you techniques to combat distress and feelings that are uncomfortable. They can also signpost or refer you for ongoing care if needed.
